Honour to Schools' Free Meals / Kunnianosoitus kouluruokailulle
We have had free lunches for pupils in our schools since 1948.
It have had a big influence in Finland's social structures.
Parents don't need to make bag lunches for their children nor pay for it.
It had meant equality between pupils, and also between parents.
Both mothers and fathers are able to work out of home if wanted.
The name of the artwork "Kunnianosoitus kouluruokailulle" could be translated "Honour to Schools' Free Meals".
It is a series of four pictures, where a delicious helping of mashed potatoes,
grated carrots and heap of meat balls disappear, only leaving a dirty plate.
Coloured acrylic tubes are making the image.
The work of art is located in Tammisalo school/kindergardenand and was installed in the beginning of 2003.
