Tree

Does also art appear without request and as surprise?

It was 2002 or maybe 2003.
Friends next door had asked me to feed cats
staying in their flat during the holiday.
Outside their kitchen window is a tiny area of rooftop.
I wanted to delight them and planted there a rowan on the sly.

July 2004 a Finnish artist started an art project of planting trees.
Wilenius planted fir saplings in
Reykjavik, Helsinki and Rotterdam without permission.

Maybe also my unlicensed planting is art.
One can see, if wants, it as a polemical public act of art
- or cannot?

The family Suominen lives now in Kirkkonummi,
but the rowan is still on the site.
